HotReference - Making your research easier
How to use it?

This is HotReference, your bibliographic reference manager.

Understand the structure of HotReference and get the maximum from its capabilities!

There are two catalogues of articles, a Public and a Personal. The public one is used as an information source and it is shared by all the system users. The personal catalogue is to keep your bibliography organized.

Initially, your personal catalogue is empty. However, as time goes by, you will import items from the public catalogue or, if what you search is not in the public catalogue yet, you can import from different sources as the "Web of Science", "PubMed" or "Bibtex" files. A third option is to register items manually.

Your personal catalogue can be organized into Categories and Subcategories. And you can attach your personal notes to each paper or make your thoughts public by posting comments.

When you insert a new article in your personal catalogue, it is also added to the public catalogue and it can be used by other users. All the information kept in the system (paper titles, authors' names, abstracts, etc) is considered as being in the public domain. The exceptions are files (ps,pdfs, docs, etc) and the comments/notes that can be marked as PRIVATE, i.e, only you can access them.

If it is necessary to select a subset of articles, for example, to set up the bibliography for a manuscript or a conference, then you must use the Folder (temp). It is a temporary repository where you can collect articles from both catalogues and use them later to produce formatted bibliographies or bibtex files containing only that subset.

In addition, you can create sub-users and allow them to access your bibliographic database. You can control their access rights as ready-only or read-write modes.

The system can also to send (by e-mail) reading recommendations.
